Born in Rutland Vermont, Andrea Lawrence was the first and only American to win two Olympic gold medals for the sport of Alpine skiing. At the age of 76, earlier this week, she died in Mammoth Lakes, CA.
After living a lifestyle framed around the sport of skiing, Andrea settle down out west, where she donated much of her time to conservation efforts. In 2003, she founded the nonprofit Andrea Lawrence Institute for Mountains and Rivers. She is survived by her two sons and three daughters.
